How to get involved with Youth

Need some ideas for your Youth Committee, look no further

Youth involvement:

It can be difficult to know what youngsters like to get involved with and how to get organisations involved with Rotary so we have some ideas for you.

1) Get in touch with local schools to see if they need any help with any events they are running or contact their PFA as they are more than likely the ones organising summer fayres, christmas fayres, sports days ect. They may just need bodies for a drinks and snack stand on the day.

2) Look on school websites at their curriculum. Foundation classes often have Minibeast days when they are looking at bugs and habitats. Link this to the environment and perhaps offer to go in and help make bug hotels, donate some bird boxes. Perhaps donate some gardening equiptment and set up summer gardening activities in the school.

3) Contact you local Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer groups. Perhaps your club could sponsor a badge by helping with an activity towards one- Find a list of badges here

4) Run a Kidsout day- Help support disadvantaged children to have a day where they can be care free and just have fun for the day. Find out more info here

5) Connect schools accross the District for a challenge or project or perhaps schools close together could have pen pals and then help the schools set up a picnic day where children can meet their pen pal.

6) Good old fashioned Toilet Twinning- Schools will look at poverty in International Countries so perhaps encourage some fundraising for toilet twinning. Click here

7) Organise a competition- Cookery, painting, writing, sports
