Mumboules Another Joint Success

Organised by Rotary Clubs of Mumbles and Swansea with sponsorship from Douglas Jones and Mercer Solicitors and South Wales Evening Post, the tournament also featured live music, street food and a beer tent.

The second Mumboules tournament was held on Saturday 1 September on the Petanque Courts at Southend Park, Mumbles.  It follows on from the highly successful and established Marina Boules tournament, which has ran with Rotary Swansea Bay’s involvement for over 20 years.  This new event also looks like being another successful addition in Swansea’s fund raising calendar.

Organised by Rotary Clubs of Mumbles and Swansea with sponsorship from Douglas Jones and Mercer Solicitors and South Wales Evening Post, the tournament also featured live music, street food and a beer tent.

Among the teams were the Lord Mayor’s Chain Gang and Mumbles Community Council. Gower MP Tonia Antoniazzi also joined in the fun.

Teams were playing for the Ivor Lewis Cup – named after the veteran Marina Boules fundraiser who sadly passed away recently.

In a tough won semi final, last year’s winners Bristol City Slickers were beaten by the Pilot Petanquers.  They went on to play the Fly By Knights of St George who were the overall winners.

Swansea Lord Mayor David Phillips alongside Ivor’s daughter Caroline (who was also captain of Ivor’s Angels team) presented The Ivor Evans Cup.

The event was in aid of, amongst the charities to benefit were, the Lord Mayors charities and the Tenovus Closer to Home Appeal.
