Award for Alison
Rotarian, Alison Sutherland, has been honoured with Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland’s Champions of Change award for her outstanding work in helping the community.. Alison was chosen to receive the award after she developed a programme in conjunction to with a local support centre to help integrate asylum seekers and refugees into the Cardiff community. The programme she developed covers a range of topics including identity and difference, human rights and local culture and practices.
Peter Davey, president of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland, comments, “We are celebrating the achievements of our 12 awardees, but they are only the tip of the iceberg. “Alison’s work is invaluable in helping welcome people from overseas into the community and she is a very worthwhile recipient of one of this year’s awards.” Pictured are Rob Wilson (Minister for Civil Society), Alison Sutherland (Awardee from the Rotary Club of Cardiff Bay), Jo Stevens (MP for Cardiff Central), Peter Davey (Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland President).
