Bexhill Rotary Club’s 34th annual charity golf day was held at Cooden Beach Golf Club on Thursday 2 July, bringing together teams of four golfers for a successful day of sport, fellowship and fundraising.
Played in warm sunshine, the event saw golfers compete across the course, with the winning team coming from Woodleigh Golf Society. Local businesses sponsored individual prizes on every hole, continuing the generous support that many have given to the charity golf day over a number of years.
A popular feature of the day came at the 16th hole, where players were invited to “beat the pro” by attempting to place their tee shots closer to the par-three flag than Club professional Sean Creasey.
The evening prize-giving was hosted by local comedian Adger Brown, who entertained the assembled players and guests while leading fundraising games of Heads & Tails and Irish Bingo. The evening also featured a draw for the star prize, a £200 voucher for The Rathfinny Experience.
Further funds were raised when Adger auctioned a round of golf at Dale Hill with him, which brought in £300. In total, the day raised £3,300 for charity.
James Slinn of Bexhill Rotary Club thanked all the golfers, sponsors, supporters and organisers who helped make the 34th annual golf day such a success.
