Rotary Club of Tonbridge – Croisière René Lambert
This is a wonderful opportunity for two local teenagers to visit Belgium for a week. The only costs involved are Eurostar travel and insurance. A small amount of spending money is advisable but otherwise all expense is met by the host Rotary Club. The Croisière Exchange was originated in 1970 for an international exchange youth project by five Rotary Clubs: Halle - Belgium, Goes - Holland, Senlis - France, Gelsenkirchen - Germany and Tonbridge who joined in the 1980’s. The object of the exchange is to promote understanding between young people of different countries by having them learn about the language, culture and way of life in the regions in which they travel. Included in the itinerary will also be sporting, sightseeing, community and fun activities and above all fellowship between the different nationalities. The students are expected to make a short presentation to the host Rotary Club on the last evening and also to their own sponsor club on their return. The exchange lasts for one week, this year 22nd to 29th July, and is for young people from 16 to 18 years. Each Club sends 4 students who are hosted by Rotary families. We already have 2 students wishing to attend. The feedback from previous years has always been very positive with a noticeable increase in confidence following the visit.
