President Steve Parkin, on his last meeting as President, said his presidency had passed very quickly and he has enjoyed his time and had fun. He thanked the Board, Committee Chairmen, Secretary Colette O’Sullivan, to whom he presented a bouquet of flowers, Val Kennedy and Jackie Allen for the weekly bulletin and Members for their hard work and support. His deputy, PE Peter Gammon whose ambitions meant he did a great deal in his year. He read out a very long list of successful events, too many to name. We lost a few Members but gained more. Next year’s Motto is ‘Safeguarding the Future of our Club’ – let’s have fun doing it. We have made a difference and Steve wished Peter all the best for his year as President.
Handover then took place with VP Robin Taylor handing over to Lester Kennedy, PE Peter Gammon handing over to Robin Taylor, President Steve handing over to Peter Gammon.
The four objects of Rotary and the four way test were read out by Members.
New President Peter Gammon congratulated PP Steve on his successful year in office with a huge number of successful events and his achievement in raising funds and awareness of his charity Parkinson’s UK, and also the many events for youth in the community, something President Peter is keen to continue. He has re-appointed Colette O'Sullivan as Secretary and Kitty Brook in the equally crucial job of Treasurer, for which he thanks them. He thanked Members for their support in his PE year and wants them to continue to have fun during his Presidential year. His charity is Leukaemia UK.
