On the Day

All walkers meet at Monmouth Showground, where there is ample free car parking.

Meeting and Transport

Free buses will be provided to take those walkers who have chosen the Chepstow to Monmouth
and Tintern to Monmouth walks from the Showground to their starting locations.
Walking Route Instructions

Detailed route instructions will be sent by email to each walker during the week before the event.

Maps are not required. However, if you would like to follow your progress on a map,
then we recommend that you use Ordnance Survey “Explorer” series map number OL14.

Refreshments

• We plan to sell teas, coffees and cakes at the finish of your WALK THE WYE CHALLENGE
at Monmouth Show Ground.
• Even if you are not taking part, drop in between 1 and 4pm. There will be ice cream too.
• Each of the routes pass places where drinks can be purchased and accessible toilets will
be available.

Weather and Suitable Clothing

• We are hoping for good weather on the day, but please bring protective clothing in case
it rains.
• Please wear appropriate footwear for footpaths and uneven countryside.
• Please bring sun cream if it is a hot day.
• Please carry an adequate supply of water with you.

Safety and Accessibility
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Unfortunately, none of the walks are accessible by wheelchair or pushchair. We apologise for this.
  • We advise you to bring a mobile phone with you. (Emergency number on the day is 07748 853 328). Please be aware that mobile phone reception is patchy in the Wye Valley.
Dog Owners

Dogs are welcome on the walk. Please ensure they are kept on a lead when passing
through fields of sheep and cattle.
