Monmouth Rotary activities in our Areas of Focus

Supporting the environment  becomes the seventh Area of Focus, joining:

• Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
• Disease prevention and treatment
• Water, sanitation and hygiene
• Maternal and child health
• Basic education and literacy
• Community economic development
• The Environment

These causes encompass some of the world’s most critical humanitarian needs and provide an opportunity for Rotary members to transform the world through volunteering and service projects.

The Rotary Foundation, our charitable Trust, supports these causes worldwide. Rotary Monmouth supports these causes by donating to the Foundation and to End Polio Now as well as supporting local causes aligned with these priorities. Rotary Monmouth have supported the purchase of a tricycle for Monmouth People First and support many community events with marshals and car parking assistance. in late 2019 we publicised the important work being done in polio eradication bringing a replica Iron Lung to schools in Monmouth. The importance of this work has been brought home by the subsequent COVID pandemic.

Internationally we have supported delivery of reusable sanitary pads to a small village in southern (Upper) Egypt and a school in India. Rotary Monmouth frequently holds a street collection when disasters strike, and used the generous donations of our residents to support relief causes such as Shelterbox and Water survival boxes and to support the campaign to eliminate Polio.
