On May 29th local RWB resident Dave Gardner and fellow Rotarian John Loran were each presented with Paul Harris awards for their passion and dedication in helping to make RWB town a greener place. In doing so, they with the help of volunteers, obtained permission to use some land owned by Wiltshire Council and created a nature reserve which not only provides a natural habitat for wildlife but also gives residents a vibrant area to stroll around and enjoy.
Along with Rotarian Phil Tanner, they set up The RWB Community Garden and Nature Reserve Trust.
This later became The RWB Environment Trust following a merger with the Environment Group which brought additional trustees and allowed a broader remit. As leader of the Trust, Dave Gardner has secured close ties with the Town Council allowing influence in areas such as:
The Trust has also arranged and helped to plant over 4000 saplings around the town.
