The annual Junior Schools Quiz organised by Rotary Club of Royal Wootton Bassett & District was held on Tuesday 26th March at the Memorial Hall in Royal Wootton Bassett.
Five local primary schools, Longleaze, Noremarsh, St Bartholomew's, St Mary’s Purton and Broad Hinton competed in a 10 round quiz on various subjects covering science, health, music, general knowledge, pictures and more.
Each team were given a Joker to tactically play on one pre-selected round of their choice which doubled their score on that round.
For each round our 'star' quizmaster Allison delivered the questions and then the answers after the team answer sheets were collected.
When the 10 rounds were completed the spread in overall team scores was only a few points. On this occasion the St Mary's team were declared winners narrowly beating last years winners Noremarsh into the runner-up position.
Rotary Club President Ray Sanderson presented the shield trophy to the St Mary's team for them to display in their school until next year's quiz. The winning team members each received a voucher for £20 and each runner-up team member a £10 voucher.
Following the event, for taking part, members of all participating teams will receive a certificate signed by Club President Ray.
All teams enjoyed the quiz as did parents and teachers. President Ray thanked the schools and the audience for supporting the event as well as all Rotary members who organised everything to allow the competition to happen.
We look forward to another quiz in the Spring of 2025.
