Presidential handover 2022-2023

This weeks meeting, held at the Gerard Buxton Sports Ground, saw the closure of President Gill's year at the helm of our club.

The meeting was well attended with guest's including D1100 ADG Lynda Morse and her husband Michael,  many members from the Rotary Club of RWB Town, and members partners.

A fine lunch was prepared and provided by club member Catherine Hacker and her husband Bill.

During the proceedings President Gill summarised many of our club achievements over the year and thanked all those who had helped make them happen.

Gill also announced three Paul Harris Fellowship awards. These awards created in memory of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary, are made to honour and recognise service over and above what would normally be expected.

Very long standing club member John Wallis, already a PHF, was awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Sapphire Award for his unceasing support of both Rotary in general and the club. John is a past president and also served as club secretary for over 20 years.

Peter Laws and Chris Firth were both awarded Paul Harris Fellowships. Peter for his ongoing involvement in many club activities including our Santa sleigh (maintaining it, towing it, collecting) and more recently serving as club treasurer for several years now. Chris for his service in District 1100 as District secretary and District Governor, and more recently on international causes such as India, the Beirut disaster and the Ukraine conflict.

In closing, Gill welcomed incoming President Linda Locke who will now lead our club for the next Rotary year.

As new President, Linda then welcomed incoming officers, President Elect Ray Sanderson and Junior Vice President Chris Firth.

We now look forward to another year of successes in all we do as Rotarians under the leadership of President Linda.
