Paul Harris Fellowship (PHF) Presentations
John joined Rotary in February 1986 and was President in 2002-3 and also 2014-15.
He is key to so much of what we do as a club and Club Council decided we would like to award him a second Paul Harris Fellowship. Over the years he has been key to numerous regular events, including:
Car Boot Sales
Pig Roasts
The Santa Sleigh
Barbecue events such as the town’s Christmas Lights evening
Storage of all our kit
The Wiltshire Life Education Centre
The Metal Detecting Rally and his contacts with other farmers
Without John and the generous way he provides access to his farm, we simply could not run most of these events.
John has already been awarded a PHF, and so this time we presented him with a pin badge with Sapphire jewel.
Behind every great person there is typically a great spouse. Val Hicks is certainly a case in point. All these years Val has been working alongside John. She has been one of the strongest supporters of this club, including:
Making cakes; preparing for the Pig Roast
Working in the catering tent for many events
Preparing for, and assisting at, Car Boot Sales
Endlessly supplying cups of tea and coffee for visitors to the farm
Welcoming people to the farm whatever is going on.
We recognised the huge help that Val has been to this club over many years and it was a pleasure to present her with a citation and a PHF badge.
