Today nine Rotarians from Royal Wootton Bassett & District visited the brand new HQ for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance at Semington. We were made very welcome by all the staff there, in particular paramedics Fred and Keith and pilot Elvis.
The visit started with a tour of the hanger and then outside to view the helicopter. We were treated to a close up view learning some keys points about this impressive machine, as well as sitting inside it. President Phil even managed to sit in the pilots seat!
Whilst outside we presented our hosts with a donation of £1,000 from our Club which will be doubled to £2,000 with a further £1,000 ‘Match Funding’ from www.theBigGive.org.uk. This donation adds to those made by our Club over the years to support this very worthy and needed service.
This 'Match Funding' is a special appeal to buy some Clinical Patient Simulation equipment for training purposes where every pound donated ONLINE is doubled. Details of the offer which ends 4th Dec 2018 can be found at this link:

Our visit continued inside with a tour of the HQ building including the Control Room and an interactive training room. In the interactive training room it was demonstrated to us how scenarios based on real life situations are recreated using state of the art ‘Immersive Interactive’ equipment.
Our visit concluded with meeting members of the WAA Charity Fund Raising team.
Finally on behalf of the Club a thank you to Rotarian Allison for setting up this wonderful visit.
