Phil Smith from Royal Wootton Bassett Academy spoke to us about his role as SSCo (School Sports Coordinator) and his annual group of 10 teenagers that help him organise and officiate inter-school sports competitions in the RWB&D area.
It was very clear that these teenagers, many whom may well be future leaders, do benefit hugely from this initiative.
At the end of today's meeting our Club were very pleased to be able to provide £250 to cover the cost of Rotary-branded fleeces and/or polos for their group which is a great way of demonstrating our backing for these future leaders.
The club Youth Committee is discussing ways that these young people can help officiate some of our youth events such as the Junior Quiz and Youth Challenge where they would also act as great role models for the primary school children.
