On Friday 25th October, a dull but dry morning, five members, including President David Sollis, from Stonehouse Rotary Club, attended the to plant purple crocus bulbs with the infants section.
This was to celebrate Rotary’s “World Polio Day” that had taken place on the 24th of October.
The infants came out in small groups, one group at a time where Yvonne gave a short talk on what polio is and what Rotary world wide is doing to eradicate it. They were shown a purple crocus badge, the emblem of “Polio Plus” and given a handful of crocus bulbs to plant in the ground that Dave, Derek and John had previously prepared.
Maxine took photographs and the children were excited to be helping plant the bulbs. The little girls were anxious to show us how clean they had kept their hands and the little boys how muddy they had got.
It was a very successful and happy morning.
