On a windy, but luckily dry day, in a lovely setting by the canal behind and close to , the launching and naming of the KataKanu that Stonehouse Rotary had donated money to build for Boatmobility, took place.
Chris Mitford-Slade, Director of The Cotswold Canals, spoke on behalf of Boatmobility thanking Stonehouse Rotary Club and in the absence of Stonehouse Rotary President Neil Gibbs, Rotary member named the vessel ROTAMOTION.
The event was well supported by Stonehouse Rotary Club members and Boatmobility members and helpers.
Four Rotarians and two Boatmobility members paddled the vessel down to the Ocean, under the bridge where we all had to duck down, turned round and returned to the bank passing others who had preferred to sail on the larger vessel.
A very welcome cup of tea and cakes was awaiting us at the bringing to an end a very happy and sociable event.
