Lynn Thorley spoke on the charity Physionet at Stonehouse Rotary meeting on 30 August. The charity was formed in 2004 by Peter and Valerie Thompson, who identified a need and market to provide health and care equipment, which can be reused from one country to another. This is recycling of NHS hospital and care home kit to where it can continued to be used.
Lynn - President Nominee from Bristol Rotary - leads a team of Rotary volunteers from the Bristol - Gloucester corridor preparing, cleaning and loading equipment from the Berkeley depot to recipients in countries such Sri Lanka, Fiji, South Africa and more recently Ukraine.
Any one interested in becoming a volunteer for 2 hours (less than once per month) please contact John Morris (tel 01453 822353) who is in contact with the Bristol Rotary and incoming organiser from Cotswold Tyndale Rotary.
A great example of the Rotary volunteer sector working closely with a small charity filling a health and care niche need.
