On Wednesday 26th April members David and Yvonne met with Librarian Catherine Escott-Allen at Maidenhill School to view the opening of the boxes containing books purchased with the £700.00 provided by Stonehouse Rotary through the Community Award Scheme.
Catherine explained the type of books the school provide for those students who find reading difficult or do not like reading. These are easy reading books with cartoon type pictures to interest the pupils and keep their attention.
More sophisticated books are available for the students who have good reading skills and an interest in reading. There is a vast library at the school.
As it was very busy at the school that morning only six students, boys and girls, attended to unpack the books. They enjoyed unpacking the large quantity of books and arranging them for the photographs.
See the attached pictures, with students Megan Lusty, Katy Price and Oliver Wells.
