Cherry talked about the Gardening Club programme naming speakers and their subjects arranged throughout the year.
On the screen Cherry showed pictures and named different plants explaining their uses, and the insects, bees etc. that help keep pests away and help with pollination.
Pictures of the Stately Homes and National Trust gardens visited by the club were shown and the pretty garden at Stonehouse Railway Station kept by one of the club members that is at it’s best during Winter.
In the past members from the club had held a meeting with some of the residents who live on the new Oldbury Estate giving advice and help on how to deal with clay and stony soils and planning a new garden.
The following Saturday members were holding a plant sale on the Stonehouse Green selling plants grown by themselves.
The Stonehouse Gardening Club (SGC) is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
SGC goes on trips to famous gardens, such as Waterperry Gardens, Oxfordshire, and our members can request topics that interest them for the talks. We get 30% discount on Sutton Seeds. We aim for hands-on know-how.
