Graeme Dougan gave an illustrated talk about the Elsa Conservation Trust and the story of its founder in Kenya, Joy Adamson.
For an older generation the story of Joy raising a lion cub Elsa is told in the best selling book ‘Born Free’ and later the film in the 1960’s.
The royalties paid for the tourist visitor centre and school programme for local children to understand the wild environment of nature and wildlife.
Joy Adamson, an accomplished artist of plants and people emigrated from Europe to Kenya to avoid the onset of WW2.
Graeme retold the story with wonderful photos and the legacy of Joy Adamson continues to have an impact in the locality of Kenya, where she had a full life.
