Club Membr Charles Buckley take an opportunity at school assembly to expaln to the students about the polio disease, to explain the work that Rotary has been driving for many years now to ensure that the world become polio free - FOR EVER!
Part of this drive is mass immunisation of young children around the world in impacted countries, and to note that a child has been treated, it is normal to mark their finger with purple dye. And from that, the purple crocus has become a symbol. Hence, after the explanation, the students moved over to the land in front of the Globe pub,and planted a huge quantity of crocus corms under the willow-tree there.
Hopefuklly,we will all be able to see this nect spring, and to rmemeber this historic work.
Attached some pictures of the students at work with fellow Club members.
