Tony Fawkes, Weds. Sept. 19. 2018.
At this meeting, we were saddened to say farewell to Tony Fawkes, who after nearly 40 years of service with the Rotary Club of Stonehouse, has decided he has done enough.
A Founder Member, Tony has given unstinting service to the Club and the Community; his generosity in storing and maintaining the Club equipment and Carol Float, allowed us to operate, and raise many thousands of pounds, for numerous Charitable causes.
For many years, Tony , an enthusiastic attendee at District Conferences, arranged our accomodation, badgered us in attending, and worked to ensure we all had an enjoyable time. Not an easy task, trying to please everybody.
We also paid tribute to Doreen; for warm welcomes, hundreds of cups of Coffee, while we worked on the float, and the generous use of her kitchen, drying out wet clothes, after a particularly horrid night collecting.
Although we will miss them both at our meetings, we know their support will still be there for the Club, cooking on the Barbeque, and helping with Collections, when able to; we will welcome that.
res. Mike was pleased to present Tony, with a Commemorative Plaque, a Service Award and flowers for Doreen. The Club acknowledged Tony’s Service, and sent all good wishes.
Charles MInchin, Weds. Sept. 26. 2018
At this meeting, we were happy to wish a very happy retirement, to Rev. Charles Minchin. After many years as the incumbent of St. Cyrs Church, Charles was able to retire, although sadly, this meant he and Anne would leave the Parish, and attending Rotary i Stonehouse no longer possible.
In his 14years with us ,we benefited from Charles’ commitment to Community Service, an area he was able to use his particular skills, and serving as our President in 2009-10. Charles joined as an already serving Rotarian, whist a member at the Rotary Club of Brierly Hill, for many years.
We wish Charles and Anne every happiness in their new home, with the hope that they will visit us whenever possible.
Pres. Mike was pleased to present Charles with a commemorative plaque, Service Award and Flowers for Anne. Members expressed their best wishes to them both.
