Wendy can be considered a local lady as although born in Devon, Wendy grew up in Nailsworth and now resides in Stonehouse. However in the years between, Wendy has moved many times!
On becoming an Army wife, Wendy lived not only in England and Ireland, but also amassed a total of twenty six years in Germany. It was in Germany that Wendy set up and co-ordinated the first Homestart group for military families. In addition to co-ordinating the service, Wendy was also responsible for training the volunteers who then went on to befriend and support those who were finding it difficult settling into the Army way of life, being alone or raising children.
When the days as an army wife came to an end, Wendy moved to Wiltshire, spending ten years there, followed by five years in France, then came a move back to the UK and Yorkshire, and now Wendy has decided to settle in Stonehouse.
Once settled in Stonehouse Wendy felt that it was once again time to offer her skills, energy and enthusiasm to the local community, and contacted the Rotary Club of Stonehouse. Following regular visits to the club as a guest for a couple of months, we are delighted that Wendy has decided to make the commitment to join the club, and offer service to the community and joining in the fellowship of Rotary.
We offer a very warm welcome to Wendy.
