1.     Young Musician - Performance times are now 13 minutes.

2.     Young Chef         - It is now just a main course and a dessert – cost £18.

3.     International Guidelines, - the appendix has been shortened and no longer replicates what is in the Information Packs.

ROTAKIDS

RotaKids is an exciting way for those 12 and under to lead and engage in important, lively activities that will make a positive difference in their school, in their local community and globally. At the same time RotaKids enjoy developing the ability and confidence to take up their place in society as responsible, successful, effective citizens both now and in the future. They have fun developing team work skills and making good friends.

As citizenship is part of the school curriculum this is an opportunity for Rotary to support and expand the work already happening in school. The decisions made always involve the RotaKids.

INTERACT

Interact clubs, sponsored by individual Rotary clubs, are clubs for 12-18 year olds. Every year, Interactors complete at least two projects in their communities, one of which is overseas, helping them build friendships and a better understanding with young people in other countries.

 Rotary Year 22/23

My final Youth update for this Rotary Year 22/23

It has been a busy but enjoyable year. I would like to say thank you to all Clubs and Club Youth Leads for all your hard work in organising Youth Events and taking part in the Youth Competitions.  It is because of you; that this year was a success.  THANK YOU.

Highlights of the Year: -

‘Youth Speaks a Debate’ Competition

We held a District Final at Maisemore Village Hall in February with the Intermediate Winner being the Team from Redmaid’s High School, Bristol and the Senior Winners Redland Green School, Bristol. Both Schools being entered into the Cluster Final.

I would like to say thank you to Geoff Sumner the Competition Coordinator, for all his hard work organising this Event and to the Rotary Club of Pershore for stepping up to do the Refreshments.

We can also celebrate D1100 being the First District to hold a New Cluster Final for this Competition.

It took place in March at Failand Village Hall. We welcomed Children, parents, School Staff, Rotarians from Districts 1150, 1200 & 1275. It was a very successful Event with everyone enjoying themselves.   Congratulations to Redmaid’s High School who won the Intermediate Category and to Queen Elizabeth High School, Carmarthen (D1150) who won the Senior category. Both Schools were entered into the National Final and although both Schools performed well, Redmaid’s High School was not placed and Queen Elizabeth High came Second. Well done to both Schools.

Again I would like to say thank you to Geoff and Tony Richards and Members of RC Clifton for all your hard work organising and on the day - to make the Cluster Final such a success.

Young Photographer

The Rotary Club of Clifton took part in this Year’s ‘Young Photographer’ Competition.  Their Senior Winner – Kirsten Chan was entered into the District Final and won, she was entered into the National Competition and has won the National Final.  Congratulations Kirsten and RC Clifton what an achievement.

I have a printed picture of Kirsten’s winning Entry – which I will show to Clubs on my visits.  In the same Competition - RC Swindon Old Town Entry from Alex Milton in the Intermediate category got a Highly Commended recommendation from the National Judges.  I am so pleased D1100 did so well in this Competition.

There are no winners or losers in the Rotary Youth Competitions – in my eyes   Every Young Person who took the time to take part are All Winners –

Thank you.

Young Citizen Awards 2023

I would like to mention RC Bristol Breakfast Who Entered Nine-Year-old Landon Maynard into the Young Citizen Awards 2023. He was one of the outstanding winners. Congratulations to Landon. A quote from the Rotary Magazine – “When he was nine-years-old, Landon wanted to give local families and children a different activity which lead to him forming “The Lego Legends’, a Lego building group at his local community centre. The Lego Legends became the fasted growing group at his community centre that a larger venue was secured to accommodate everyone”.

Rotakids

I am so pleased to announce that we have increased our Rotakids Clubs in our District from Two to Four. Welcome Worcester and Nailsworth, who have both received their Charter.

Interact

We have one New Club at Pershore High School.

I would like to say thank you to Clubs for making me so Welcome on my visits. I have enjoyed meeting you All.

I now look forward to 23/24 and the achievements we can do together.

Thank you
