We contribute to the ACE fund at Great Western Academy

Great Western Academy believes every student deserves the chance to thrive. It's values are ACE - Achievement, Care and Excellence.

Great Western Academy (GWA) is committed to nurturing achievement, care and excellence among its students. As part of this commitment, it is seeking support from the local community to help establish an Achievement, Care and Excellence (ACE) fund.

We invited the Principal of GWA, David Clarke, to a recent meeting to tell us more.

David said: “It’s quite straightforward; students currently earn ACE points at GWA for exceptional Achievement, Care or Excellence in school.  Thousands are awarded each year, every single one representing a glimpse of brilliance from a student, showing they have gone above and beyond what is expected of them.

The ACE fund would provide the opportunity for students to trade in their ACE points for a reward.  This could be something simple like a pen or pencil from the stationary shop, or they could consider saving up their points for a prize of greater value, like an opportunity to attend an end of year visit, for example.

The ACE initiative is fully inclusive of all learners and will provide the opportunity  for students in receipt of the Pupil Premium, or those with Special Educational Needs, to be able to thrive and access rewards for their efforts as we seek to focus on achievement over attainment.

In response, David said: “Your contribution is going to make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.  It will help us offer meaningful incentives such as vouchers, prizes, and special recognition events that celebrate students’ efforts and successes.   And it will directly contribute to fostering a culture of motivation, resilience, and ambition within our school.  Thank you very much for being a key partner in the education and growth of the next generation.

For contributing to the GWA ACE Fund we will have:

  • Recognition on the GWA website and social media platforms
  • Promotion in the school newsletters and at key school events
  • The chance to engage with students and showcase our support for education
  • GWA students will be encouraged to take part in some of our fundraising events
