Our Fellowship Weekend 2024 is from 6th to 8th September and will include a visit to the Brooklands Museum including the London Bus museum and Concorde, Weybridge, KT13 0SL on the Saturday. Subject to confirmation nearer the time, the concession ticket price for over 65s will be £21.95.
We will be staying 2 nights at the Premier Inn, Woking West, Woking, GU21 6NL which is approximately 8 miles from the Museum. Free on-site parking, Beefeater restaurant and meal deal available.
Robin Elliott is our organiser and he writes:
"At the Brooklands Museum including the London Bus museum and Concorde, near Weybridge, you can explore, discover and marvel at the pioneers of speed, flight and adventure at the birthplace of British motorsport, aviation and home of Concorde. Visitors can step back in time to the days of innovation, determination and record breaking on the site of the world’s first purpose-built race track. On Saturdays they usually have some cars and bikes running on part of the track and bus rides may be available (extra charge). This would be a full day visit with on-site food options for lunch. Most of the exhibits are under cover in either historic buildings or new purpose-built buildings. The Museum has featured in the TV programme "Secrets of the Transport Museum" on Yesterday channel. Current 2023 ticket prices for seniors are £21.95 (with donation and gift aid) or £19.95 (without donation). Whilst group bookings can be made, there does not appear to be any discount. I will follow this up later. Car parking is free."
Update from Robin on 12/12/23:
"The room cost at the Premier Inn, Woking West will be £186 for the two nights arriving on Friday 6th September, room only. The meal deal will cost £25.99 per person per night, which will be payable on arrival at the Premier Inn.
Cancellations without any cost being incurred have to be made at least 28 days prior to the arrival date. Payment for the accommodation has to be received no less than 28 days before our arrival date. In practice, I have to do a bank transfer no less than 5 working days before the due date though nearer the time I will see if there may be an alternative option so that payment can be made closer to the 28 day limit. I will ask for payment from participants around six weeks before our arrival date, so no-one has a financial commitment until much nearer the time. If you cancel once payment has been made there is no refund for the accommodation cost.
I have booked our group into Brooklands for the Saturday. The ticket cost will be £19.70 per person. We have to confirm the number in our group and make payment no less than 14 days before our visit. There is an option to also enjoy the “Concorde Experience” which costs an extra £6 per person. This has to be pre-booked for a specific time. Due to a special Concorde event on the day of our visit, the first time slot available is 13:25. If you would like to book the “Concorde Experience” in addition to the standard admission, let me know within the next week together with any preference about time. No payment is required at the moment as it will be included in the one final payment to be made 14 days beforehand. It may be possible to book it on the day, subject to availability and I also may be able to add numbers to our booking for Concorde nearer the time of our trip. There is a maximum of 16 at a time for this option. Here is the link for further information:-
https://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/explore/exhibitions/Concorde-Experience
Again, once payment for admission tickets and any optional tickets for the "Concorde Experience" has been made to Brooklands 14 days before the day of our visit, there will be no refunds.
To keep things simple, I will ask for payment from all participants for accommodation and Brooklands tickets at the same time, but will only make the actual payments when they have to be made.
I now have to confirm the number of rooms required at the Premier Inn, so I will assume you still wish to participate in the Weekend Away next year unless you advise me to the contrary in the next few days. There is no financial commitment at the moment. Once the rooms are booked, I will confirm to all participants and provide a list of all those participating should you wish to consider sharing transport."
Travel time from Swindon to the Woking West Premier Inn is around an hour and a half. Brooklands is then just under 8 miles away.
Suggested options for places to visit on the way to/from Brooklands are Mercedes Benz World, Windsor Castle, Cliveden, RHS Garden Wisley, Cholsey & Wallingford Railway and Hatchlands Park, East Clandon.
