PRE-EVENT INFORMATION

Enter our SWIMATHON and raise funds for your favourite charity, cause or organisation.

Held over 4 hours our Charity SWIMATHON gives a team of swimmers the opportunity to collect sponsorship for an organisation, cause or charity of their choice.  Team members can be friends, school or work colleagues, family members, in fact any group with a shared aim.  We organise and run the event and it's totally free to enter.

Swimathon 2022 raises £6,680 for charity

Our SWIMATHON is not a marathon or a race.  It's a FUN EVENT for swimmers of all ages and abilities to take part.

No-one will be asked to complete a certain distance or to swim at a certain speed, team members just swim in relay for 55 minutes.  All swimmers will be given a medal and a certificate to show how many lengths they completed.

Above all, what we ask is that each individual team member collects as much sponsorship as possible on themselves. We will give a cash voucher to the 3 swimmers with the highest individual sponsorship.

Ideally your team should have 4 to 8 members, people who are not only prepared to swim but also willing to collect sponsorship on themselves. Give your team a name, decide who will be the team captain, and select the charity or organisation you want to raise money for.  We suggest that each team member endeavours to collect at least £50 sponsorship on themselves.  Obviously, the more the better!

On the day, come to the SWIMATHON with your team and any supporters, hand in your sponsorship forms, and enjoy swimming and cheering on your fellow team members.

Whilst you are swimming we will add up how much sponsorship your team has obtained and after verifying the forms we will hand them back to you so that you can collect all the money in.

It has a small team of professional mentors working to provide safe spaces and practical support for young people.

COLLECT YOUR SPONSORSHIP ONLINE

You and your SWIMATHON team members can collect sponsorship online by using the InvestMyCommunity facility.
Click on the "Start Fundraising >>>" button below to go to our InvestMyCommunity Swimathon campaign page.  On the right hand side of that page click on the orange bar "Fundraise for us" and then choose the 3rd option "Got a team?" [or the 1st option "Fundraise for us"] to register and set up your team's fundraising webpage [or your individual fundraising webpage].

If you create a fundraising page for your team, your team members can set up their own individual pages on it if they wish. Then all of you should email and message your friends and family to invite them to donate to you online on your InvestMyCommunity fundraising page. That way you can promote your entry much more widely, maximise your sponsorship and have gift aid added to it. This online method is by far the easiest way for you to raise funds for your chosen charity and the Swimathon.
