Club Assembly

ADG Alana Brown attended the Club Assembly to hear our plans for the next Rotary year, she gave her feedback after listening to the convenor’s reported. 

“You're a packed club and you do a lot. So congratulations on the fact that you go out and do a lot things. You're very active, specifically with the youth running Young Artist, Young Photographer, Young Writer, and congratulations on having a national finalist in the Young Writer, that's pretty impressive. 

“I like that you do a lot for Foundation, it looks like you do more than your bit for Foundation, and you are doing a lot for international as well with Shelter Box, and you're support for your project in Malawi.

“To be fair, there's not much that I need to say because the feedback is all good, there's nothing that I think that you are falling short on. I think that actually you're a very impressive club. I like that you have leads on everything and you're able to report and you're clear with what you're telling us and your plans are set in stone and I like that. I think that your fundraising that you've got coming up sounds good, I love a race night, so let me know when that is because if I'm free that night I will definitely come along.

“I like the fundraising ideas that you came up with, I'm definitely into buy a service, buy a skill, that benefits everybody doesn't it? You get somebody to do your gardening and you raise some money. I hope actually that you do continue with the Gavel and my club also takes part in the Gavel. You've done your compliance statement so that's good, that's important and so congratulations on being ahead of the game and keeping yourself up to date. 

“I think you know yourself that you are in a healthy place and that you are doing well. You seem like a club that I would like to visit again, you are all a team and that you are all friends. Entertainment and fellowship nights are a great thing and that's really important and a lot of people don't talk about that enough. They talk about the business and what you can do for the community, the youth and your international projects but nobody actually talks about the fact that you guys are doing all this work and you deserve to have time to enjoy it. So yeah, take your theatre trips and go to the bakers because it's very important. I'm satisfied that you're in an absolutely great position and I'm really glad that you had me here tonight and that I've been able to listen and sit and meet with you guys so thank you very much.”

President Mark thanked Alana and concluded saying:- “We've set our stall, let's go for it. The strapline for next year is Create Lasting Impact. I think we've started doing that in our local communities and I think that's got to be what we aim for in the next year, whether that be through fundraising or social events or whatever and indeed getting in touch with all these local communities. I think we have got a good basis for moving forward. It's the group here and the folk who haven't made it tonight for whatever reason, that can do that so please stay involved as much as you can.“
