Flooding in Pakistan

An Appeal to clubs in District 1010


You will, I am sure, have heard of, and seen the devastation caused by the recent flooding in the north of Pakistan, and I wanted to keep you informed of how ShelterBox is responding.  District Governor Graham has agreed that I should appeal to all clubs in our district to consider whether they might be able to make a donation to assist with this response. 

So many of you have already given most generously to ShelterBox this year and also have other funding commitments to honour but if you were able to help this would be very much appreciated.  If I can assist in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me. The information from ShelterBox which follows provides more details of the response so far and I will provide updates on my Facebook page as and when they become available.

What is ShelterBox doing?

We have a team in Pakistan after severe monsoon flooding in the north of the country, which is affecting tens of thousands of people. We are looking to send another team to Islamabad in the coming days to work closely with Islamic Relief Pakistan (IRP) with whom we have worked before. They will discuss how best to support people displaced by flooding and landslides.

We need help to provide:

• Emergency shelter, such as tarpaulins, for families left without a home
• Water filters and carriers so people can access safe drinking water
• Mosquito nets to protect families from disease 


Your club's support will help provide essential shelter to people made homeless by disaster, wherever the need is greatest. The link should take you to the donation page on the ShelterBox website and posters can be found here.
