Instead of the normal club meeting, 10 members and 6 guests "the young team" had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to the Dunfermline Slot Car Racing Club. Effectively Scalextric on steroids everyone had the opportunity to practice followed by 4 races using the 4 different cars and lanes that were on the impressive 41m track
As the night progressed everyone improved and although there were some impressive crashes that wouldn't have looked out of place in historical F1 races these added to the frustration and enjoyment of the evening.
The places for the finals were based on an individuals highest number of laps completed in each of the 3 minute races.
The numbers of laps were incredibly close with only 4 or 5 laps between the fastest and slowest with the vast majority only being separated by fractions of a lap. The finals were keenly contested but unfortunately the A final, which was contested between 2 rotarians and 2 of our guests was dominated by the young team.
The winner was Ben Buttercase who had been the best throughout the evening who led by almost 2 laps as the chequered flag fluttered.
The rotarians had possibly taken far too much credence to the talk a couple of weeks ago in relation to careful driving.
