This Tuesday meeting was a visit to the Mines Rescue Service HQ in Crossgates. It was a fascinating experience with 14 members and spouses being taken underground to discover the difficulties that can be encountered in real mining situations.
The tour undertaker by Trevor and Graham also included a demonstration of the kit required to undertake life saving rescues and the skills needed to deal with dangerous situations in wind turbines and down shafts.
This was a truly immersive evening and everyone thoroughly enjoyed this unique insight into a very important occupation.
The club's formal vote of thanks was given by the visit organiser Mark Todd.
