Burns Night at Rotary

This meeting was a low key Burn's Evening and despite 12 apologies for various reasons the members who attended enjoyed an interesting evening. Donald played the pipes as the Haggis was brought in. The Selkirk Grace was read by President who included a vegetarian verse. All agreed it had been tasty, haggis does differ so much depending on butcher.

After the meal the Immortal Memory related the very recent news about the astonishing discovery at Barnbougle Castle. The papers recovered contained in a volume called 'Burnsiana' describe the evidence of Burns' construction of Ellisland. It paints a fascinating, detailed picture of the poet's domestic life.

Tom Pettigrew had chosen certain words from Tam 'O Shanter which we had to guess their meaning, very varied ideas. He, then, continues to astound by reciting the entire poem. An enthusiastic audience asked questions and shared stories and experiences about Burns. We raised a toast to the Lads and Lassies.
