Action / Business Meeting

The meeting on 4th October was a Business meeting. Council had discussed the resignation of the Secretary, Robert Haig, and the President wrote a letter to Robert wishing him well and we look forward to his return to the club following his requested leave of absence.

Council is collating a job description for a new Secretary with reference to Cath Chorley's suggestion that members could share the role.

Agreed payment to Disability Fife and Fife Young Carers.

A rearranged weekly planner was agreed. The first Tuesday of month would be the Business Meeting, second and fourth there would be a speaker and third Tuesday a Pot Luck Members' meeting was suggested. A range of ideas was suggested.

An ongoing discussion whether to implement a Card Reader system continued at last week's meeting with a final decision to be made at next council meeting.

The 4 mile Kilt Walk was completed by Douglas Scott, Dave Riddell, Alex Evan-Wong and his wife, Anne completed the walk raising with their donations and Tom Hunter raised £8000 for Club Funds. Our congratulations and hope to involve more members next year.

Tom Pettigrew is once again organising The Ultimate Quiz coinciding with Children in Need event on Friday 18th November, in East End Park. Can you raise a team and enter the quiz? Please contact Tom.

Information of this year's Youth Competitions has been sent to all schools in our area. We hope more schools take part this year but will limit entries from each school. Once again, Robert is running the same 5 competitions as last year plus this year being able to reintroduce the Young Musician in collaboration with the Carnegie Dunfermline and Dunfermline clubs involving the Secondary schools, Dunfermline, Queen Anne, St Columbas and Woodmill.

Fellowship - a team of 6 members began with a win in the Gavel Challenge against Bridge of Allan last Monday.

Donald introduced a project which Alex Evan-Wong is currently involved with in Malawi. Alex explained the project with an interesting powerpoint presentation. We still continue our links with the school in Cambodia.

Community continue to support the New 4 U project reporting more active management change at meeting with the other Rotaries. Neil reported that 679 donations to requests had been delivered. Our thanks to Neil and his Committee for their efforts.

Neil raised the query whether this year we should look at different village locations for any of the 4 Remembrance Wreaths.

Our website, which Douglas manages, appears prominent on Google searches. A prospective new member who had asked about membership, attended our meeting on 27th September and has since contacted President Aileen about membership.

The members at last week's meeting suggested we should have our Christmas meal at the Keavil Hotel this year. A provisional booking has been made for the Mountbatten Suite for Tuesday 20th December. Greig has said he will arrange the entertainment for the evening. The cost is £35.

Members continue to be very involved in every committee showing "We are People of Action" and "Make a Difference in our Communities at Home and Away"
