Photography has the power to capture special places, moments and memories.
The Rotary Young Photographer competition gives participants the chance to express themselves through photography, interpret the competition’s annual brief in an imaginative way and experiment with digital and traditional methods. The ‘Wonderful Water’ Theme can be interpreted as broadly as the Young Photographer wishes and does not need to conform to the dictionary definition. Young people have the widest opportunity to share their creative talents in showing us what this Theme means to them.
The West Fife Competition is part of the National Young Photographer competition and will go ahead this year as planned, but will be entirely electronic. Please do not send any prints.
Aims and Objectives
The competition aims to encourage young people to:
• experiment with photography
• use digital and/or traditional methods of photography
• demonstrate interpretation of the topic
• express personal ideas through the medium of photography
The Task
To produce one photograph based upon the theme, ‘Wonderful Water’. Mobile Phones or cameras may be used.
Each entrant MUST provide a brief sentence describing the relationship of the artwork to the theme. This sentence must be entered on the entry form in the applicable place. Failure to do so will mean the entry is ineligible and the entrant therefore disqualified.
The photograph must be submitted via Digital Format and be at least 1500 pixel in size on the longest length. The entries and supporting information sent electronically MUST NOT EXCEED 15Mb per email sent.
Photographs that are part of a current educational exam portfolio are not eligible for the competition, due to educational exam board regulations. District competition winners will be required to provide a digital copy in jpg format to be at least 1500 pixel in size on the longest length for the National Final submission.
