The Club’s 38th Charter Dinner was held at Garvock House where guest speaker, Sheriff Lindsay Wood replacing Ruth Davidson, entertained the members and guests of the club with his many anecdotes and stories about some of his experiences working in the courts in Glasgow. The Hotel provided a very good meal and a good time was had by all.
During the course of the evening President Dave Riddell presented a Paul Harris Fellowship, the highest accolade awarded to Rotarians, to Past President Ewan Archibald. President Dave said “we are fortunate to have Ewan Archibald as the leader and chairman of the Community & Vocational Committee for this year. Ewan is a first-class organiser, he likes to make sure he pays attention to detail and is willing to have a go and try new projects, new ideas. He is particularly good at encouraging others to become involved and delegating to his fellow committee members. He has served on Club Service, Youth Service, House, Foundation & International and Entertainment & Sport Committees, however, it is for his sheer dedication for service to Community I wish to make a presentation of a Paul Harris Fellowship to Ewan tonight”.
The club donated £2,000 of their share of the net proceeds from the Grand Charity Spring Dance in March to Roseann Haig, founder of Circle of Comfort, our Joint Venture partner for the event.
