Vocational visit to Dunfermline Veterinary Practice
More than half the club took part in the visit to the Veterinary Surgery of member Ken Davison on Tuesday 12th August.
Ken (front row third from left, arms folded) gave the Rotarians a guided tour of the facilities which opened in Halbeath Road in March.
Not only does the centre provide new facilities for pet owners but their dedicated treatment areas for wildlife casualties cements the role the practice plays in helping the Middlebank Animal Welfare Centre.
Consultations are by appointment between 9.15am and 7.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.15am to 1,00pm on Saturdays.
Ken explained that the appointment system means improved quality of service to customers by reducing waiting times and allowing the vets to spend more time with their patients.
The circular drive opens off Halbeath Road and takes you to the converted 17th century cottage. There you discover three state of the art operating theatres, dental treatment facilities, diagnostic room, recovery cages for small animals, four consulting rooms which open into a pharmacy. There is a superbly equipped laboratory and spacious reception area and waiting area. Above there is a fine flat for on duty staff to give 24 hour care to recovering animals.
The practice provides employment for six full time and three part time vets; and eight nurses and admin staff with branch surgeries in Rosyth and Cowdenbeath.
