District Governor David Rankin addressed the Club.  27 members were in attendance including Ian Borland who recently returned from the successful 52nd Scotland to Canada Rotarian curling tour.  Scotland won by 547 shots to 420 and in doing so Ian visited six or seven clubs (more later.)  Ian presented the DG with a tour tie and pin.

For David this was club 85 out of 86 of his tour of District 1010. He said it has brought him deep joy to see Service before Self so evident. He has also seen how Rotary has made a difference to the children of the world.  Saying "yes" to RI President DK, to Rotary GB&I President Ian, DG David, Club President Neil, Rotary and yourself the DG said it was impressive to witness just what could be done.

David commended Rotary's Club Leadership Plan and Presidential Citation to the Club.  He explained that Distruict 1010 led Rotary GB&I with 53 citations last year - best by a "country mile" over the next best District with 20.  He also said that 1010 was a leader for membership growth and had increased donations to Rotary Foundation by 24%. The target of a net gain of one member was the goal for every club.

Every club in 1010 has been asked to raise £500 per year for the next three years to finally eradicate polio in the world.  David concluded with a plug for Rotary GB&I Conference in Edinburgh in April and the 100th RI Convention to be held in Birmingham, England in June 2009

28 members will attend the Sunshine on Leith Show at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh on Tuesday 16th December.
