The annual golf trip to Ashbury Golf Complex took place again this year.
Jeff took over as the competition organiser, as Bob was preparing for his daughter’s wedding. A very creditable effort, with little or no hiccups.
The Monday afternoon start was a little delayed as the M5 was closed for a while to allow a stray bull to be removed from the carriage way!
Apart from a serious deluge on Tuesday morning for about an hour and half, the weather was kind to us, although the courses were very damp and the rough was quite penal!
For the first time, the par 3 competition on the Willows was played as a standalone, with John Roderick winning. Well done John!
On the Thursday (final) morning, there were four players with very close scores John B, Gordon W, Roger B and Martin, hence they went off in the last group. Poor Gordon had had to sit out the Wednesday 9 holes, as he was suffering with back issues. In the penultimate group, there was one player who had a decent score and sneaked up on the outside to end up level with John B and Gordon. As he had a better back nine than anyone on the Kigbeare, he was awarded the top spot and presented the Hippo winner's trophy. Modesty prevents me from declaring who that was!
Well done to Jeff and for organising and booking next years event.
