Tribute to Pamela Nilo-Walton.

Our club has suffered the loss of a much-valued member, Past-President Pamela Nilo-Walton. Pamela moved into the town with her husband Ian on their retirement.  Both wanted to contribute in some way to the community, and they joined Evesham Rotary Club in 2017. Pamela was returning to her roots in Evesham and made an early impact in the club with her energy and determination. She took on the lead role in supporting and encouraging the development of the Interact (junior Rotary) Clubs at Prince Henry’s High School and The De Montfort School. A new project was a Murder Mystery charity fund-raiser at the Town Hall, in which Pamela played a leading role off and on-stage. The successful event was repeated last Spring and is due to run again. Pamela was also central to the annual Tree of Light campaign as a committee member, helping to check the lights with husband Ian and as part of the lights putting-up and taking-down crew. Whatever the club was involved in, Pamela could be relied on to get stuck in. She and Ian also opened their newly redeveloped house and garden for a fund-raising garden party during her year as Club President in 2021-2022.

Pamela had been undergoing cancer treatment for some time, during which she showed extraordinary spirit and humour while continuing her work for the club and our community. More recently, her cancer took an unexpected turn for the worse.  She was forced to give up her club activities, but her courage never failed her right to the end, which came shockingly quickly. She died in the early hours of the 12th December with husband Ian and family members around her. Evesham Rotary Club and the community will miss the drive and warmth of a true Rotarian.
