On a sunny, dry and cool day Graham and Chris Peake, Ian and Margaret Whittle, Penny Smith and Neil Grecian representing Dursley Rotary, joined 8 members of Cotswold Tyndale Rotary at Cattle Country. We were there as helpers to the teachers who had the legal responsibility for their children. The 2 clubs had sponsored children from Cam Everlands, Cam Woodfields, Slimbridge and Tortworth Primary Schools, in all 134 children from these schools. We met the coaches at 9.15 from the schools and mixed pairs were allocated to each school to collect their lunches and be their point of reference during the day. Our group of helpers were also allocated Play Barn 2 to supervise. The children had a lovely day on the outdoor and in door activities and playbarns.
The event involved Rotary Clubs and schools from Bristol to north of Gloucester and over 800 children were involved. The annual KidsOut event is sponsored by individual clubs and the national charity. Children participating had free entry to Cattle Country, free transport and free packed lunches.
The children were well behaved and thanked us as Rotarians for our help and making the event possible. An event well worth supporting and a good partnership with Cotswold Tyndale. It will have been a big thing for many of the children there.
