The Sodbury Slog
The Sodbury Slog is a cross country event organised by Bitton Road Runners with The Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury supplying the route and marshalls, the mud is an extra.
The 9.5 mile multi terrain race, held in Chipping Sodbury Bristol, has become an institution. Its held on Rememberance Sunday and is preceded by 2 minutes silence, after which, racers are set loose on bogs, marshes and cow dung. Personal Bests are largely forgotton and its probably one of the funniest races arround.
This year the race attracted some 1,000 runners and raised over £4,000 for charity, including £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and £2,000 towards Rotary Charities.

"The club organises a number of fundraising events in order to fund its various charitable activities. Regular events include the Classic Vehicle Run, assisting with the Sodbury Slog, the Victorian Day and a golf day.

The Youth Projects Team organises many events locally and provides assistance to schools, youth organisations and individuals.

The Chipping Sodbury Town Hall was chosen to display pictures representing the closeness of Polio being eradicated throughout the world. Recently Africa was declared free of Wild Polio.
