Community Service

Fundraising

"The club organises a number of fundraising events in order to fund its various charitable activities. Regular events include the Classic Vehicle Run, assisting with the Sodbury Slog, the Victorian Day and a golf day.

Sodbury Classic Car Run

Each year the Club organises a classic run throughout the local countryside. The day starts with breakfast in Chipping Sodbury, a coffee break along the way and finishes with a lunch at a well known location. The route and locations change each year.

Sodbury Slog

Members of the Bitton Road Runners, the Rotary Club, and the local community all help marshal the event. In return each year over £2 per entrant is donated to local charities and the community. This is distributed by the Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury.

Tree Planting

The Club has recently formed a small group to plant small trees, whips, in conjunction with South Glos Council.

Young Innovator

Each year the club holds a Young Innovator competition for the local schools.

World Polio Day

The Chipping Sodbury Town Hall was chosen to display pictures representing the closeness of Polio being eradicated throughout the world. Recently Africa was declared free of Wild Polio.

Young Inventor and Inovator 2011

This year 67 entries were submitted from Chipping Sodbury School and Yate International Academy.The Hall buzzed with enthusiasm as they laid out their exibits, which represented many hours of dedicated work.

Sodbury Slog 2021

Each year the Rotary Club support Bitton Road Runners with their annual cross country run. The event supports variouse charities including Rotary.

Clasic Car 2022

The Clasic Car event made a successfull return this year with much enjoyment.

Classic Run June 2010

152 vehicles took part in the popular annual Classic Run completing the 88 mile run.

The Classic Car Rally

The club organises a classic car rally with a different circular route every year, a coffee stop and a grand lunch back at Chipping Sodbury.

Southmead Hospital Charity Abseil

On 11 September members of the Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club, accompanied by two members of the Chipping Sodbury Inner Wheel club and family members masquerading as “Chipping Sodbury Daredevils” abseiled down the wall of Southmead Hospital.

International / Foundation

Some of the money we raise, from events or donations, is given to charities and organisations operating internationally, including our own Rotary Foundation.

The Chipping Sodbury Sportive

In the past the club was a key supporter of The Chipping Sodbury Sportive. Unfortunately the event fell foul of Covid and has been suspended. It raised many thousands of pounds for local charities.
