Meeting Notes for 2nd February 2026

                                MEETING NOTES FOR MONDAY 2nd FEBRUARY, 2026

WELCOME

President David Heale welcomed members to the meeting. 29 people were in attendance

including our Speaker Edward Tucker Brown, and guests Adrienne Wood, David Granger from

The Rotary Club of Severn Vale, Joel Crossland, Claire Morris and Joshua Morris.

The Speaker Host for the evening was Liz Jones.

President David read members a card he had received from Sir Henry Elwes.

SNOWDROP TEAS – 14th FEBRUARY

Vivien Barr advised the meeting that everything was in hand. The scouts would be in

attendance to help with the washing up.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

President David thanked Gill Rouse and John Phillip for the organising of the Carol Concert.

GRANTS COMMITTEE

President David said he would be presenting a cheque for £500 to Sue Young of Home Start on

Wednesday. Nigel Gilhead will be presenting a cheque for Benhall Sharing Shed.

Clive O’Gorman informed members that £10,000 overall has been granted to 24 applicants.

Applications have been received from:

Tewkesbury Sea Scouts, Cheltenham Primary Football Association, Dunally School for project equipment

Bettridge School.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE MOUSE HUNT

Tony Pawley reported that IT equipment had been collected at Tesco in Tewkesbury Road.

He reminded members that items can also be dropped off at The ITSA Digital Trust

DISTRICT CONFERENCE

D.G. Anne Bartholomew thanked members who had already signed up for the Conference.

SPEAKER

Our Speaker for the evening Edward Tucker Brown gave a very interesting talk titled ‘Exploring the

real Madagascar’. He showed us beautiful slides of the flora and fauna on the island with

brief videos of the camps he runs. He gave members who answered or asked interesting

questions packets of Madagascan vanilla.

NEXT MEETING

This will be on Monday 16th February when Loveth and Solomon Nwaka will be inducted into

the Club. They will be speaking on their Homeland Nigeria and their journey to Cheltenham.

Janet Keenan will be Speaker Host for the evening.
