Today, as a club, we took time to reflect and honour the immense sacrifices made by the armed forces and civilians during conflicts across the generations.
At our recent Rotary luncheon meeting, our commitment to both service and remembrance was evident. Several members were seen proudly wearing their Poppy Rotary badges, visually linking our motto, Service Above Self, with respect for those who have served. Furthermore, the committee meeting held just before lunch observed a solemn Minute of Silence, providing a crucial moment for deep, collective reflection.
Supporting peace and resolving conflict is one of Rotary International's core areas of focus. Rotary clubs worldwide actively demonstrate this commitment by supporting Remembrance Day through local community events, dedicated fundraising, and projects designed to aid veterans and their families.
The luncheon itself was well-attended, bringing together 20 members and guests. It was a pleasure to welcome prospective members Robin and Bruce to experience the fellowship of our club.
The Rotary Club of Welwyn Garden City is continually seeking dedicated individuals who want to become Rotary People of Action and help us make a positive impact, both locally and globally.
