Monday 11th May 2026
The chilly May winds were no match for the warm hospitality of the Forrow family this week. On Monday 11th May, a dozen hardy members and friends of Welwyn Garden City Rotary gathered for our 3rd Annual Social Beer Tasting.
While much of our calendar is dedicated to community service and charity work, this lunchtime gathering was a pure "Fellowship" event. These socials are a vital part of our club life, allowing members to relax, catch up, and strengthen the friendships that power our service projects.
The highlight of the afternoon was a blind tasting of seven quality ales. Participants meticulously judged each brew on appearance, aroma, and flavour. To add a bit of technical intrigue, we also held a blind tasting comparison between Guinness 0.0 and its full-strength counterpart—a challenge that sparked plenty of lively debate and surprised a few of our seasoned palates!
We were honoured to be joined by District Governor Elect, Kendal Pitt, and Assistant Governor, Claudio Duran. It was a pleasure to share our table with them and discuss the vibrant future of Rotary in our district over a glass of fine ale and a wonderful BYO lunch.
It was a 5-star afternoon that perfectly encapsulated the Rotary spirit of "Service Above Self" built on a foundation of true friendship.
