Food for Thought at Watford Rotary.
Saturday the 18th November saw Watford Rotary’s Young Chef Competition held at West Herts Catering School.
Participants from Westfield Academy, Queens, Bushey Meads, Kings Langley, St Clement Danes schools participated and were judged by Andrew Wakeford, Head of the West Herts Catering School and his team. At the final judging, Andrew stated that the standards achieved by all the participants were extremely high, especially for their age groups.
The judging was based on the cost of ingredients, planning, healthy choice of dishes, correct use of knives and equipment, meal served on time and at the correct temperature, neatness of working area and hygiene, range of skills used, presentation of display table, taste and presentation of main course, taste and presentation of dessert.
The winner, Gracie Stack won a 6 week catering course at the West Herts Catering School, dinner for 4 at the catering schools restaurant and a £30 gift voucher of her choice. Second place went to Bobby Malde and third went to Sameer Pabari, all participants received a certificate and a box of Ferrero Rocher chocolates.
