The 2004 Field is Launched

Probably the most insane way of drawing a raffle ever to be invented!

Thousands of bright yellow plastic ducks, all individually numbered, were released into the swirling torrents of Ware Lock to battle it out in a thrilling race to the finishing line. The first duck to pass the line won its lucky owner a prize of a portable TV with DVD player, with other prizes for second and third place.

The 2005 event was also be enlivened by an appearance of the famous Human Fruit Machine, as well as by a loft sale of items found in various garages, car boots and cupboards.

Tickets were sold at various locations in the two weeks preceding the event and we would like to thank EVERYONE who supported us by buying a ticket.

Over the years, this event has raised substantial sums of money for local charities and good causes supported by Amwell Rotary Club. In the  2004/2005 Rotary year we supported the Isabel Hospice as our President's Charity, this Rotary Year we shall be supporting Arthritis Research in Children.
