Ampthill & District Rotary Annual Charity Walk 2015
Despite the rain and cold weather many brave and hardy walkers turned out to support their own and Rotary charities.
Once again Ampthill and District Rotary Club held their annual sponsored walk. This year it took place on Sunday 29th March.
The event is for all ages through very interesting local landscape, where walkers will have the opportunity of discovering local landmarks and wildlife. It is also a dog friendly walk.
Walkers had the choice of two routes, one of 4.5 miles and one of 1.5 miles.
The shorter route started at Ampthill Cricket Club Pavilion. It is a circular route around Ampthill Park. The 4.5 mile route is along the Greensand Ridge past Houghton House and Kings Wood towards Maulden before returning to Ampthill Park. On their return walkers were able to enjoy a BBQ and the bar was open in the Cricket Pavilion.
Walkers raise sponsorship and keep the first £25 raised. After that we ask that you split the proceeds by giving 50% to your own charity while the remaining 50% will be given to Rotary charities, of which our President is prioritising local charities this year.
Well done to the hardy souls who survived the walk! We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
