Every now and then we get involved in a hands-on project in the community, using the skills of our members, or indeed lack of them sometimes, to make a difference. We had been asked if we could help with replacing the floor in one of the rooms at a local refuge. They had been supplied with commercail quotes running into thousands of pounds. However David Harding came up with an ingenious way of 'floating' a new floor above the existing surface. This would be just as effective and considerably cheaper. David mustered his troops and, over 5 half-days the area was cleared, covered, carpetted and painted.
