Walking Weekend 2012

We went to Sherwood Forest, staying at the Clumber Park Hotel S80 3PA
On Friday 20th we met at the Biondi Bistro in Gunthorpe, Nottingham NG 14 7FB for a 5.5 mile walk on the flood plain of the Trent. Given the large amount of rain we had recently it certainly lived up to its name. Fortunately it stayed dry for us
Saturday morning we went to Byron's House and Newstead Abbey (5.75 miles). Lunch was at the Horse and Groom, Main Street, Linby, Nottingham NG15 8AE Tel 0115 963 2219. In the afternoon we headed for Southwell and the Minster (4.25 miles).
On Sunday we took a stroll round the lake in Clumber Park (approx 3.75 miles) and then had lunch (a 1-course roast) at Tom Brown's Brasserie, Trentside, Gunthorpe, Nottingham NG14 7FB Tel 0115 966 3642 www.tombrowns.co.uk
